June 2017 - January 2022

  • Built partnerships with government agencies (e.g. National Institute of Health, National Science Foundation) , private foundations (e.g. Knight, Ford, Mellon, and Open Society), corporations (e.g. Google, Verizon, Sony), and community-based organizations across the United States to design, implement, and finance educational programs in churches, laundromats, and community centers.

  •  Managed 12 full-time staff members, a 13-member Board, & operating budget of $1,400,000

  • Oversaw the strategic planning and expansion of Libraries Without Borders US. During my tenure as Executive Director, Libraries Without Borders tripled its budget, staffing, and programmatic scope, including continued growth during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Advocated for increased educational opportunities for families through features in the New York Times, Baltimore Sun, National Public Radio, and on stage at SXSW, the Library of Congress, and the American Library Association.

Baltimore Digital Equity Coalition - Co-Founder, Board Member, and Chair of Advocacy

March 2020 - October 2021

  • Created a coalition with 60+ member organizations to end Baltimore’s digital divide.

  • Fundraised $500,000 from private foundations and lobbied Comcast and city leaders to support computers, tech support, & internet for low-income children and vulnerable adults.

  • Collaborate with a newsroom team of 10+ staff members to support with early and mid-career investigative reporters around the world to integrate data journalism and visual storytelling at every stage of the reporting process

  • Leverage social media, blog posts, and other online communications tools to advance the organization's visibility and the work of its journalist network

  • Use text, video, audio, and photography to report 20 feature-length stories covering matters of technology and equity

  • Collaborate with additional print, audio, and video media outlets to place and publicize stories

Alfred Landecker/Humanity in Action  - Fellow

  • Received a $20,000 civic leadership grant to pilot the multimedia "Digital Divided" project covering issues of technology and equity

  • Collaborated with podcasters, journalists, filmmakers and community members in Texas, Maryland, and Massachusetts to re-imagine how to tell the story of the digital divide
